WELCOME!
Starting in April 2007, Prof. Hans-Joachim Haas from the University of Music Duesseldorf leads a team, consisting of the students Jindrich Massner, Christian Frentzen and Benedikt Aufterbeck of the „Institute for Music and Media“, joining composer Christian Halten (SKYLIFE Film Music), to work out a concept for recording and sampling a church organ and then recreating a virtual copy via software-sampling technology. The questions that arise with this project are: How close can one get to the sound of the real organ with a virtual clone? Can musicians and non-musicians tell the difference when listening to a pre-recorded piece of music, one played on the real organ and the other one played on the virtual clone?
